Join our Team

We are looking for a plant seller to join our small, but growing, family team.

The role is based at our Exeter shop and will involve working 3 - 5 days a week, including Saturdays. The contracted hours will be dependent on the successful candidate and on business need.

The successful candidate will need to be available throughout the year (candidates who can only work around holiday/term times will unfortunately not be suitable for this role).

You will need to have great people skills, a strong work ethic and a passion for plants.

You don't need to know everything that there is to know about houseplants; we are excited to provide the training that you will need for the role.

Hutch 3 pots of plants

Key Responsibilities for the role include:

Serving and making sales to customers

Providing advice and guidance on houseplant choices and care, as well as troubleshooting houseplant problems.

Caring for the plants in store through watering and plant maintenance

Assisting with deliveries and restocking the shop (some heavy lifting may be required)

There will also be the opportunity to get involved in wider areas of the business, including:

Working at events around the South West

Working on commercial installation and maintenance contracts

Assisting with the ongoing running of our website, online sales and social media

This is an opportunity to join a busy and exciting independent business, with lots of potential for long term development and growth within the role. We absolutely love working at Hutch, but we are still a small family team and everyone needs to muck in and get their hands dirty... if sweeping up and doing the bin runs aren't your cup of tea, this might not be the job for you. Please note, this role will also involve elements of lone working.

The starting rate of pay is £11 per hour.

The role includes annual leave calculated pro rata.

The successful candidate will need to be available to start in late October or early November 2023.

If you would like to apply for the role, please send a copy of your CV, along with a covering note, including a brief overview of your current situation, what your availability for work will be (how many days a week) and a statement explaining why you'd like to apply for the role, to info@hutchhouseplants.co.uk

The closing date for applications is Friday 6th October 2023.

Please note we may not be able to get back to every unsuccessful candidate.
